I’m writing to you here on Winter Solstice and welcome you to celebrate with me!

This time of winter darkness is a season to birth the light within our own hearts, minds, and souls.  The light we are birthing is the eternal light of our true selves and that is growing brighter and stronger as the new world grows within and around us.  Like sunlight on snow, when our light breaks through the darkness of the old world we see the dark shadows of the old world become more evident.  The shadows don’t reveal new darkness and it is important to remember this.  The darkness is ancient and passing away.  Trust the light and forgive the darkness as you continue to welcome your eternal true self to be born within your human experience.

Rudolf Steiner wrote about this week and the birth of light within each of us in his Calendar of the Soul in this way:

I feel as freed from spell

The spirit-child in womb of soul;

In clarity of heart there has

The holy word of God begotten

The heaven-fruit of hope,

That grows in joy to world-expanses

From ground of God within my being

The birth of the enlightened one that we celebrate at Christmas is also a seed of world ascension within each person in the world.  This light is not a religion, but a reality which belongs to all and which long precedes all religions.  Each soul is a unique part of that enlightened reality that has to grow through the darkness of the old-world womb to actualize its true and eternal potential.  This light is most easily perceived when the world is dark around us.  When Steiner uses the words “freed from spell”, I believe he is referring to being released from darkness as we birth our light within.

The light and the darkness are both essential to the birth of eternal light within us.  Celebrate with me this birth within ourselves and our world.  Trust the light and know that we are all eternal, safe, and unbreakable.  The darkness is a womb to birth our unique, individual rays of the light of the One.  We are blessed to have your light within the world.
