Today I was rewarded for weeks of slogging hard work.  I was reminded that we are always rewarded when we reach the fulfillment of the task required.

After a week of heavy clouds, rain, and high wind, including 24 hours of power outage, darkness and cold, today dawned with patches of blue sky and gentle winds.

Walking my whippet Toby on the beach, beams of sun spotlighted patches of fall color and delighted our eyes.  With a renewed spring in our steps, we both enjoyed the morning.  Gulls delighted – Toby to chase them and I to enjoy their flight.  I found myself wondering for the thousandth time why the flapping of their wings seems to lack efficiency compared to other birds of their size.  And then as I watched them soar, I realized that – of course – flapping is not their strength, those wings were built to soar, and they do it so well!

This made me think of myself.  How my weaknesses and gifts are both purposeful.  The challenges of my humanness are the open door for my spirit, which is my strength, to do its work in the world.  I can accept and be grateful for that.

I also thought of how the world I live in always mirrors the aspect of my work I am undergoing at the time.  The period of wind, rain and power outage, by removing all other possible activities, nudged me to spend extra time looking within the darker and colder places within my body and soul.  Places where my inner work appeared to be personal stuff, would ultimately lead me to world healing and ascension work on those same issues.

Each of us is a microcosm of the whole.  To change the world around us, we have to go within ourselves, where we find our handle on the bigger issues.  Forgiving, comforting, healing and empowering our limited human selves we bring our Higher Selves into the world.  Our Higher Selves are One with the One Source of Life which I call essence of truth of God.  When that One is present within our human weaknesses we are strengthened, forgiven and healed.  Through our connection to everything else the world is also strengthened, forgiven and healed to an extent.

Because my outer experience mirrors my inner state, until I had completed the inner work, which led to the world work, the darkness of the world around kept getting darker, colder, more oppressive.  This led me deeper into places within myself and the world which needed healing and ascending.  Not fun, but worth doing!  As soon as I completed what was needed – and I didn’t know what that was until I did it! – the power came back on!  What a relief!  This is true of our world and all the craziness it is undergoing currently.  When we have finished what is needed, harmony and light will be born into the places where darkness and chaos have reigned in the past.

After my first good night’s sleep in days, I found myself on this morning’s walk, standing on a sandy point which extends into Lake Michigan.  The sun illuminated me, and gently breaking waves approached in rolling whispers of sound, light and color flowing in repeating waves from every direction.  All came together at my feet massaging me into an experience of perfect harmony, beauty and peace.  The outer world reflected and awakened me again to my inner truth.  I felt rewarded and discovered once again that even when I feel out of sorts, I am always where I need to be.  When I have fulfilled my purpose in the dark, cold, hard places, I will be rewarded with the experience of perfect harmony, which is my true nature and birthright.  This is also true of all people and all life and we will all know this once we ascend.

As I turned to continue my walk, a first-year bald eagle (looking like an osprey with its first year dirty grey tones, and beautiful in its own young power and grace) flew directly toward me and slowed over my head.  With awe in my heart, I opened for its message and was told – “That was the message”.  I got it, I was acknowledged and loved as a necessary part of the wholeness of life.

It’s important to make time to receive the rewards of our labors.  To remember that we are each an essential part of the wholeness of life.  We need to hold to the light within our hearts and souls, even when the darkness seems to overwhelm us.  And remember that the work we do to overcome the darkness and open to the Oneness that is always present within is a fulfillment of our job on earth.  The world around reflects the work we need to do within.  It isn’t a reflection of our mistakes or failures.  It is a guide to seek the light within us.  To heal the wounds that carry darkness and awaken the Oneness in those places.  Shame, blame, judgment, fear, hatred, pain, lack, disease – these are all invitations to find the light and open to Oneness.  They are symptoms of the old world, and we are all tarred with that brush.  We are here to heal and ascend.

So please make time to do your own inner work, lighting the dark places.  But also make time to receive your rewards.  Though you never know when that will be, they come when you have completed an important piece of work.  When the rewards come, receive and hold them close within your heart to help you through the next dark time.  They make it easier to find the light within by reminding you that you are loved, you are helping, you are exactly the way you were designed to be.  You are not flawed, but perfect.  There is a purpose behind it all.  As that purpose is fulfilled, the old-world stuff will clear and leave you in the light of true self.

Like the gulls with their wings that don’t move them along quickly when they fly into the wind, but which soar with great skill and grace.  Like me with my extremely sensitive human self but my great strength of spirit both of which are essential for the work I am here to do.  You are also designed perfectly for your job during this time of world healing and ascension.

Let go of the judgments of yourself.  Remember that your Higher Self, which is One with the One Source, designed you perfectly.  All your strengths and weaknesses are your work.  You can’t fail.  You can make it harder for yourself by judging it.  Or you can make it easier on yourself by accepting, loving, healing and ascending it.  But you will overcome these limitations when everything comes together within you and within the world around to make it happen.  There is a time and a rhythm, and you never know why something hasn’t resolved, until then it does.  It will happen when the time is right.  I believe in you.  I love you unconditionally.  You are essential and are doing what you are designed to do in each moment.  Thank you.
