There is a perfect rhythm to each moment, day, and season of our lives.\u00a0 With so much change, it can be more challenging than usual to find that rhythm.\u00a0 Here is a meditation on doing that.<\/p>\n

I have always walked to the sound of a different drum than most people \u2013 as you may have noticed! \u00a0It is my belief that we each have our own inner drummer that we benefit by listening to.\u00a0 From that inner rhythm we naturally find the way that we can dance with life\u2019s bigger rhythms as they move through our lives and world.<\/p>\n

In my teens and twenties, I was a songwriter. \u00a0The following is a little rhythmical walking song which has stuck with me for over 40 years, and appears in my memory like a meditation song, just when I need it most.\u00a0 It came to me yesterday and helped me to embrace some changes and new opportunities that I found somewhat daunting.\u00a0 I wish I could sing it for you, so you could hear the melody and the rhythm within it. \u00a0Perhaps I will share it at next Monthlies Class! \u00a0It is perfect for walking, carrying a pulse that begins on the down beat, switches to the upbeat and alternates back and forth in that way.\u00a0 So first it goes with my right foot leading, then I find the next phrase begins on my left foot, etc. As I walk or do my chores, I can repeat it as many times as I like.\u00a0 It leaves me happy and in synch.\u00a0 If you like this idea, you can make up your own rhythm and tune to go with it!<\/p>\n

I have been obsessed with the rhythm of life for as long as I can remember.\u00a0 Many people try to \u201cdance\u201d with the rhythm they hear from the world around, but to me the rhythm is an inner one.\u00a0 When I try to get in synch with other people\u2019s rhythms, I become clumsy and awkward.\u00a0 But I have learned that when I follow my own inner beat I am able to weave through life\u2019s symphony in just the right way, no matter what is happening in the world around me.<\/p>\n

I invite you to meditate on your own inner rhythm.\u00a0 It is a feeling sense of rightness that the mind can\u2019t always comprehend fully.\u00a0 You find it in your heart, body and soul.\u00a0 Following that inner sense, then the mind gets those \u201cAh ha!\u201d experiences when you discover where your inner rhythm is taking you.\u00a0 You may find you are in synchronicity; dancing your uniquely perfect steps to life\u2019s music.<\/p>\n

Here we are at the end of summer, dancing its final steps in the warm sun.\u00a0 Staying centered in our own rhythms we can enjoy the journey and all its changes with more comfort and ease.\u00a0 We find ourselves dancing in beautiful harmony with life.\u00a0 The mind may struggle to regain control; but stay centered and invite it to learn to dance within the wholeness of you.\u00a0 Its role in our life is different than the one society has given it in the past.\u00a0 Its true role is softer, more receptive to the inner wisdom and higher intelligence whose rhythms play uniquely within each of us.<\/p>\n
