It’s good to be back in green and moist Michigan after my sojourn out west, much of it spent in the desert! San Jose and the UCM 100 Yr. Conference was a joyful experience.\u00a0And the raw desert environment, both exquisite and harsh taught me some things.<\/p>\n
After 30+ years working with the Universal Church of the Master to legally certify Healer Practitioners through my classes, it was a blessing to finally meet these folks in person.\u00a0 What I love about UCM and what we celebrated during this conference is its unique umbrella which accepts all spiritual paths when walked by people of good character and\u00a0intent.\u00a0 It not only accepts them, but allows those who walk those paths to legally serve in the way the Higher Power within them dictates.\u00a0 I am honored to have been asked to be the keynote speaker and workshop leader for this event to welcome in the next 100 years of service.\u00a0 I loved the people I met, their diversity, intelligence, accepting hearts and minds and good will.<\/p>\n
From there my husband Dave and I\u00a0joined his brother and wife from Hawaii to visit canyons\u00a0in Utah and Arizona.\u00a0 We experienced Zion, Bryce, Antelope and the Grand Canyon all within 6 days.\u00a0It was an amazing and beautiful journey!\u00a0\u00a0Though the pace and crowds\u00a0prevented the depth of interaction I would have benefited from, I will continue to visit these places in spirit to learn more as I am guided to do so.\u00a0\u00a0Nevertheless, the impact of this experience was powerful for me.<\/p>\n
Each of these places has\u00a0its’ own unique and splendid personality.\u00a0 Zion is quiet and holds a deep stillness and peace\u00a0which is hard to miss, despite the crowds.\u00a0 Bryce – not really a canyon at all, but a vast lake which was lifted by tectonic shifts so the water flowed out is spectacular.\u00a0 Over thousands of years\u00a0the\u00a0land was\u00a0sculpted by rain penetrating its layers and then\u00a0freezing 200 days a year and\u00a0thawing often enough to break off parts and create the most amazing “hoodoos”, or forms that look like people and other things we are familiar with.\u00a0 Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon accessed through a crack in the ground.\u00a0 Water running through it sculpts the most beautiful, curving forms, like fabric and ribbons swirling and turned to rock.\u00a0 I have the most amazing pictures.\u00a0Upper and lower Antelope Canyons are on Navajo land and it was a pleasure meeting the young Navajo guides, a hoop dancer and an elder during our visit.\u00a0 I appreciated what I perceived as\u00a0their quiet, joyful, sweet and open hearted intelligence.\u00a0 The Grand Canyon hardly needs a description, being known to all.\u00a0 Some day I hope to raft it to receive a deeper experience of this place, away from the crowds on the rim.\u00a0 I found\u00a0 myself wanting to become one of the hawks and fly down into the canyon myself.\u00a0 It was magnificent, especially at dawn, the earliest rays pouring into the canyon would be hard to describe.<\/p>\n
What came to me after days in the desert and canyons was this metaphor for our lives:\u00a0 The desert is symbolic of challenges and opportunities that life offers us.\u00a0 In the “dry” places of life\u00a0we are changed, both by the lack and also the abundance of water, which is the most essential element of all life on Earth and symbolic of love,\u00a0forceful change\u00a0and unity.\u00a0 A river – or force of change –\u00a0flowing\u00a0through the desert soil of our\u00a0humanness\u00a0 washes away weakness and leaves us with a sculpted strength, beauty and depth unknown before.\u00a0\u00a0Rain – symbolic of love and truth, penetrates our souls and through the process of freezing and thawing breaks us, leaving\u00a0our inner depth\u00a0and strength of character exposed.\u00a0\u00a0The process of freezing reminds me of the energies of pain and hatred that we experience which become hard places within us.\u00a0 Then when life warms us, we have to\u00a0thaw – or forgive, if we are to experience the deeper joy and beauty life offers us.<\/p>\n
These metaphors help explain the old world experience that we have known since the dawn of time.\u00a0 When visiting these canyons, I could see many layers of time exposed by water and tectonic plates.\u00a0 Each layer holds memories from different ages in the history of life on Earth.\u00a0 My sister-in-law and I found ourselves speculating on what humans might have been like and might have experienced during each of those ages.\u00a0 It was a humbling and awe inspiring thought.<\/p>\n
I found myself welcoming the One Source to embrace all those ages of life on Earth and to bring forgiveness and healing to all those experiences, so that everything can ascend more easily into unity and wholeness.\u00a0 This led into forgiveness work for the leaders of our country now and for people who are being drawn into feelings of hatred and fear because of the experiences they are bringing to us.\u00a0 Like freezing and thawing – the process of hating and forgiving changes and deepens us, revealing our true character, uniqueness and beauty within.<\/p>\n
