Reiki is a magnificent yet simple form of healing
which can be practiced by anyone with powerful results. Having been
a full time Healer Practitioner and trainer of healers for 17 years
now, when I had the opportunity to receive Reiki attunements about
7 years ago, I wondered what it was and why I would need it. How
grateful I am that I listened to my inner guidance and accepted
the opportunity to become a Reiki Practitioner and eventually a
Reiki Master! In fact, as a parent, I wonder how I ever got by without
this convenient way to make bruises and burns go away instantly,
start my car battery or extend the useful life of home appliances
as well as many other very practical uses to which I put it every
single day!
You may think my claims to be rather extreme even if you already
practice Reiki because few Reiki Practitioners have even begun to
make use of the full potential of their Reiki gift. But with a little
creative imagination and some spiritual guidance, you will find
that Reiki is an extremely powerful and versatile tool which use
is only limited by your belief in its potential.
Reiki is believed to have existed since the beginning of time. But
it was re-discovered in the late 1800s by a Buddhist Monk in Japan
by the name of Mikao Usui. Master Usui as he came to be known discovered
this healing system through meditation and prayer during his quest
to discover how the great master teachers of history had healed
the sick.
Reiki Master Teachers use the Reiki symbols to open healing potentials
within Reiki Practitioner by means of a process called Attunements.
Once attuned the Reiki Practitioner becomes a channel for the gentle
but powerful Reiki energies. If we break down the word Reiki, we
find that it means essentially God Energy or Universal Life Force.
Reiki energy is extremely compatible with the physical body. When
this energy is channeled into the body of a client, that person
receives its lovely, warm life force to use for his/her own healing
and deep relaxation occurs. Reiki can help clear negative states
of body, emotion, mind and spirit. There are three levels of Reiki
Practitioner. With each level of training the practitioner receives
an attunement and with each attunement the power of their healing
channel increases exponentially.
Reiki I is the first level certification class where the new Reiki
Practitioner receives training in the laying on of hands. A first
degree attunement is given by the Reiki Master using the Reiki Symbols
to open the body's natural healing channel at the physical level.
Once attuned the Reiki Practitioner's physical body will begin to
clear energies which block the flow of physical life-force so that
they can be clearer channels for healing. Reiki can be used for
oneself as well as for others. For 21 days after their attunement,
the Reiki I practitioner will be requested to do a full self-healing
to assist in opening and clearing their channel. Having received
the Reiki attunement, a person will always have a level of energetic
support available to them which helps them to stay healthier and
not to become as run down or exhausted as they might have previously.
Even if a person does not wish to work as a Reiki Practitioner,
they will find it a blessing to have this tool for their own benefit
and to help people they love during times of stress or poor health.
A hands-on Reiki treatment brings deep relaxation, relief from pain,
strengthens the body's life-force, increases immunity and is very
warm and comforting. These are only some of its benefits.
Reiki II is the second level certification class which expands the
healing channel to include emotional and mental healing and allows
the practitioner to provide healing in almost no time at any distance.
The Reiki II Practitioner receives a second attunement which opens
their healing potential to an exponentially higher level. The 21
days between level I and II attunements allows the practitioner's
body to make the changes which prepare them to receive the greater
power of the second level attunement. There is likewise a 21 day
period of emotional and mental empowerment that follows the Reiki
II attunement. In the Reiki II training the practitioner learns
the use of the Reiki symbols. Reiki symbols allow the practitioner
to send a treatment outside of the limitations of time and space
to anyone-anywhere in as short of a time time as it takes to draw
the symbols and state their intention. The Reiki symbols can also
be used to define the action of the Reiki energy to address specific
issues physically, emotionally or mentally. With the Reiki symbols,
a practitioner can direct the Reiki energy to a time in the future;
they can start the battery in their car, make a burn or a bruise
disappear instantly, help a child go to sleep, or eliminate jet
lag. These are just a few of the potential benefits of Reiki II.
Reiki III is the third or Master Teacher level certification. Reiki
Masters learn to pass attunements and teach Reiki certification
classes. They also receive a third level attunement which takes
their gifts into a more spiritual level, tends to open their psychic
abilities and exponentially increases their healing abilities. I
encourage Reiki Practitioners to receive their Master Teacher Certification
even if they don't intend to teach classes at this time. It is my
opinion that if they only attune one other person in their entire
career as a Reiki Master, they will have changed the world for the
better.
Reiki is a safe and effective healing tool which is guided from
within the Reiki Practitioner by spirit and by the inner wisdom
of the client who receives the healing. I feel that everyone could
benefit by giving and receiving Reiki healing treatments. You can't
imagine how wonderful this tool is until you have tried it yourself.
If you are curious, I encourage you to receive a healing or to join
a class. You'll almost certainly be impressed with how good it makes
you feel and how well you sleep the night following the experience.
You may find a level of peace and relaxation you forgot was possible.
